CAR CRASHES INTO GUARD WALL INJURING DRIVER- NEWS ARTICLE
A Christ Church man is today counting his lucky stars after the car which he was driving veered off the road and smashed into a nearby guardwall.
19-year-old Venice Harvey, of Clapham Heights, was taken to the Q.E.H by ambulance after he sustained minor injuries in an accident that occured along Fordes Road, St. Michael this morning.
Eyewitness, John Ramdin, who resides at the house that Harvey crashed into, said he was about to leave home when he heard a loud noise.
"Just as I get to the front door, I hear de bang. . .I look out, I saw the car stick on de wall. When I get outside, I saw the guy that driving the car coming out through the window and then he start to complain for his chest, and he got a cut on his finger and his mouth was burst and he complained for his back," Ramdin said.
Ramdin said that Harvey told him that he was reaching for a drink and that was when he lost control of the car.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said he was irritated at the length of time it took for the ambulance to arrive.
"I called the ambulance since around something to 11:00 am and them now get hay, cause them say them was waiting for a stretcher," the eyewitness said, "Over an hour them take to get here."
Relatives at the scene were taking Harvey's belongings out of the car and declined to speak to the media.
Meanwhile, in Oldbury, St. Philip, a two-car collision in which a Suzuki jeep crashed into a utility pole, has caused traffic along that road to be congested.
Both drivers and passengers of those vehicles escaped unscathed.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene.
